The 2006 schedule of events is up.
June 10, 2004... Spring cleaning; I updated quite a few links in the US Clubs list.
May 1, 2004... Once again, TheAstronews continues its regular updates. The May issue is up. There is an article on a presentation and movie about alternate cosmologies. You can get a different perspective of these cosmologies, one without persecutions or burnings at the stake, here.
Here's hoping that all of you enjoyed Astronomy Day on April 24. Your humble webmaster helped show the planets to a good crowd of people at Waikele Community Park, and showed them again to a group of kids in Kaimuki the week before. This is a club that remains dedicated to outreach.
September 27, 2003... Thanks are due, once again, to Paul Lawler, TheAstronews editor. He has provided us with the October issue in PDF format.
September 26, 2003... Have added directions to the Kahala Park star party. Thanks to Barry Peckham and Mapquest. The pages in question were edited using Bluefish, running under Linux. gFTP sent them from my home machine to the server. gFTP is as good an FTP client as any out there. Bluefish is the best of a rather second rate Linux lot. It is more stable than Screem, and handles style elements better than Quanta. Most of this site was created using Homesite (running under Windows).
June 26, 2003... The Astronews has its own page, complete with a back issue listing. Enjoy. Also, I have switched to FTP Explorer, which seems to do a better job than FTP Voyager in getting through a NAT.
February 27, 2003... The Astronews is back for March. Enjoy.
October 12, 2002... I recently received complaints from some users that they could not access the site, that it wasn't loading properly. I eventually traced this to a problem with the way Netscape 4 rendered table tags with style elements in them. The work around is a bit sloppier, but Netscape 4 users should now have access to the site, even if some of the results look downright ugly (like this page).
What browser does this amateur page designer recommend? I find Mozilla to be the easiest to design for. It is the most fully standards compliant. The browser I use is Beonex, a cleaned up version of Mozilla with a much better install program. That said, I value web sites that welcome any and all comers, and I strive to make this one compatible with a broad range of browsers.
August 26, 2002... Checked and fixed links in the Deepsky Atlas.
August 21, 2002... The Astronews is up for September.
July 2, 2002... Have added search capabilities to the Deepsky Atlas through Google.
July 1, 2002... The Deepsky Atlas appearance and navigation has been largely revamped.
June 29, 2002... Continued link checking. The software and clubs pages are redone, with some additions.
June 27, 2002... I continue tracking links on the Planetarium page, and I am revamping the site. This will eliminate frames, and make for faster loading.
June 4, 2002... The Astronews is back in pdf format, thanks to Astronews editor Paul Lawler. I have also been checking for broken links. I have fixed the light pollution page, and am working on the planetarium page.
